Ice Age: Man and Nature, in harmony

In one of the most intriguing moments of the Ice Age, Sid the sloth, captured by a giant dinosaur, sighs softly under the ice and says, “Good night, boys, hunting and playing tomorrow…” After a second’s silence, he said quietly, “And I miss my friends. I just don’t know if they will miss me.” Meanwhile, Manny the mammoth family and Diego the saber-toothed tiger have reached the ground and are trying to rescue Sid.

Sid is a giant sloth who is abandoned by his family once a year. In the fourth film, Diego sees the family abandon him again and says, “No wonder Sid is like this.”

The shadow of boyhood had haunted Sid for half his life, and though he was no longer a child, he was still as mad as the naughtiest of children. He asked Manny, “Do you like me or Diego?” Manny laughed. “Diego, of course,What do you have?” Diego looked proud and smiled over his shoulder. “I told you so, you see.” But in truth, he didn’t care. Diego had always been a tough and fierce saber-toothed tiger, indifferent to the comments of others. It doesn’t matter if others hate him. Naturally, though, he was a little happier because of his best friend Manny’s comments.

But it meant something different to Sid. He is crazy, timid, cunning, and so on the shadow of childhood experience in his body, but I have never seen anyone as good as him. It was Sid who first saw a human child and tried to send it back; It was Sid who refused Diego’s ill-intentioned “help”; Help Manny pursue “possum” Allie; It was Sid who raised the baby dinosaurs and wanted to care for them all their lives……

Everything he did was so absurd and unruly, but underneath that absurdity there was a deep goodness. He’s always wanted to be taken seriously, as in the opening scene of the second film, when he’s angry with Manny and Diego, “Do you all despise me? I’ll show you that I’m amazing too!” He needs to be taken seriously, but what a pity, in a mammoth saber-toothed tiger and sloth team, he is destined to be often ignored.

Who hasn’t experienced ignore in their life? You can’t blame Diego or Manny for this. Manny has a family of his own, he can lay down his life to save his friends, and is destined to devote more attention to his family; Diego has his ideals and pursuits, often feel that he does not fit in the vegetarian family, and occasionally secretly sad…… Who isn’t licking their wounds in the dark? Only Sid, who hated to cut himself in the dark like Diego, the shadow of his childhood so heavy that he thought enough, enough! It is doomed that he will often do that “crazy” behavior to attract the attention of his friends……

So even as Manny and Diego tried to get Sid out of there, he wondered uncertainly, “I wonder if they’ll miss me?”

Sid, however, was strong in his own way. At the end of the second part, Manny hesitates in the face of love and Ellie walks away sad, intending to follow a large number of mammoths to leave Manny and them. Sid laughed. “Well, Manny, you’ve gotten a lot better since we’ve been together, and I have to give you credit for that, but now you have to go after her and pursue your love!” Come on, mammoth, it’s always a part……

At that time to see there, I froze for a moment; three brothers will be so separated? I didn’t expect to see Sid, who was always vulnerable, turn out to be so strong, and offer to separate. Fortunately, it’s a sweet and beautiful ending, as Manny sprints to catch up with Allie — and makes it — before gently chasing Diego and Sid.

Diego and Sid were both surprised. “Why, don’t you go with your own kind?”

Manny laughed. “I have to go with my own kind!”

Okay, I admit I cried when I saw this. It was here that Sid asked Manny happily, “Do you like me better or Diego better?”

Diego didn’t even look back. He didn’t need someone else’s word to prove he was good and likeable. He was confident enough. Sure enough, Manny laughed and replied, “What are you better than Diego?”

It certainly didn’t mean that Manny didn’t like Sid. They were such good brothers, but once again Sid didn’t get his wish……

Suddenly, Manny didn’t take Diego too seriously after he saved his life in the first movie, even though he almost died. At night’s rest, Sid said to Diego, “Manny is so nice. I never thought I’d have to give my life to save my friend.”

That was the first time Diego showed his genuine soft side, muttering, “Yes, Manny, he’s very nice, friend.” Tough guys are not good with words, so stuttering like that, saying Manny in a low voice is good. It’s not easy. That’s when the change began, and they really became a group that helped each other.

So, despite Sid’s pursuit, he did meet Manny and Diego, and the past is the past, and as Diego says, “Sid, you still have Grandma, don’t you?”

Strong Sid’s eyes lit up. “Yes, Grandma, Grandma”

He asked Grandma on the ice boat, “Grandma, why are we always abandoned?”

“Because we always do the wrong thing and don’t like people.”

Maybe Sid will never figure out what he did wrong to get dumped over and over again. He doesn’t have to. He has Manny and Diego and Grandma. And then little Sid, and then the Sid family the Manny family and the Diego family were together all the time……

Well, this is just the author’s shameless wish and you can ignore it.
